How many treatments will I need?
Most patients need 5 to 10 treatments before seeing complete removal. Patients with faded or older tattoos may need 3 to 4 treatments. The number of treatments a patient needs varies and is unique to that patient and their tattoo. Our clinic uses various factors to best estimate the number of treatments you will need, these include:
- Age of tattoo
- Size of tattoo
- Location of tattoo
- Tattoo ink colors
- Depth of ink
- Ink density
- Pre-existing scarring
- Patient health
How long before I achieve complete removal?
Laser tattoo removal is a procedure that requires both time and commitment. Multiple treatments are needed for a patient to achieve complete removal. Patients interested in fading their tattoo down for a cover-up will need fewer treatments. Treatment sessions are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to allow your skin enough time to heal before receiving its next treatment. This duration of time is for your skin’s safety. Because every patient heals at different rates, some patients may achieve complete removal after a few months while others may take up to a year. It all depends on how quickly your immune system heals. Patients are encouraged to exercise and drink water daily to increase the health of their immune system – doing so can quicken the rate at which your tattoo fades.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Wichita Laser Clinic offers affordable and competitive pricing to meet the needs of every patient’s budget. Our clinic uses a sized based category system that assigns a price to your tattoo based on its size. All of our consultations are free and include a tattoo assessment, pricing quote conversation, and walk through of the procedure. Visit our pricing page for more information.
Is the laser painful?
Laser tattoo removal is often compared to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. The procedure is very tolerable and does not exceed the pain of having a tattoo applied. That being said, every patient has a different pain threshold and will react to our Duality laser differently. Fortunately, treatment sessions are very quick and last anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. Wichita Laser Clinic provides various numbing solutions to maximize comfort and mitigate any pain associated with the laser.
Are there any side effects?
Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for getting rid of unwanted ink. Unlike methods like excision, salabrasion, and dermabrasion, laser tattoo removal is noninvasive and does not result in scarring. The most common side effects patients experience are redness, swelling, itching, scabbing, and blistering. All of these side effects are temporary and fade as your skin heals. Patients are strongly advised to refrain from meddling with any scabs or blisters that form. Although unsightly, these side effects are positive signs that your body is reacting well to treatment. Picking or popping any blisters or scabs may lead to infection and unwanted side effects. Let these heal naturally over time.
