Laser Tattoo Removal

Wichita Laser Clinic uses a Q-Switched Nd:Yag Laser, the gold standard in non-invasive Laser Tattoo Removal for your unwanted ink. Using the latest technology, the laser delivers a high-powered, very short, pulsed light beam at specific wavelengths (532nm and 1064nm). The laser emits a focused beam of light, which passes through the outer layer of the skin and is absorbed primarily by the tattoo ink. The light is converted into heat, which breaks the ink into tiny particles. The body’s lymphatic system then carries away the ink fragments. The tattoo will then fade over a series of treatments. 

After reviewing your health history, the WLC team will evaluate the tattoo, discuss the process and risks-benefits-options, and answer any questions you may have. A price per treatment or package/payment options will be given upon examination. Then it’s time to schedule your appointment!

Most clients describe the discomfort level as equivalent to getting the tattoo (or slightly more painful). Some describe it as feeling like a rubber band snapping on the skin. Most Tattoo Removal procedures are just a few minutes, or slightly more, for larger tattoos.

Factors that may influence the number of treatments needed (varies from person to person): 

• Age of the tattoo
• Pigment type/Skin color
• Depth
• Color of ink
• Location of tattoo
• Daily water intake
• Professional vs. amateur tattoo
• Smoker vs. Non-smoker
• Immune system
• Although it is impossible to determine exactly how many treatments will be needed, the average is between 9-13 treatments. Some will take less, while others may take a few more, especially tattoos on the body's extremities (wrists/hands/lower legs/feet). 

To protect the skin, Tattoo Removal treatments are spaced 6-12 weeks apart for best results and will generally require multiple treatments. 

Contrary to popular belief, a scar from removing a tattoo is very rare. Tattoo Removal is safe and effective on ALL skin types and has been successful in treating almost all colors. Tattooing itself may scar or change skin texture, an effect often hidden by the dyes. If Laser Removal uncovers skin changes, you may be left with what looks like a “ghost” of your old tattoo, although rare. Of course, it is important to follow aftercare recommendations to ensure a fast and healthy healing process.

Your body’s immune system rids of the ink once the laser breaks it into tiny fragments, which can take the body several weeks to do. Throughout the years of Tattoo Removal, we have found that most tattoos are removed in 1.5 to 3 years. 

ABSOLUTELY! We realize that you may love your tattoo but want a specific portion of it removed. Several clients just want to fade their tattoo enough to get it covered with a new one.

A few colors – some greens, light blue, and teal/turquoise – can be more difficult to remove, if not impossible.

MOST tattoos will be removed fully – YES – however, there is no way to guarantee it. Simply put, too many factors are involved to make such a claim. The WLC team will be forthcoming so that you are aware of ALL risks before making the decision to remove a tattoo.
